Guide: Analyzing with a Value Stream Map (VSM)
A VSM is a Lean tool used to analyze the flow of materials and information required to bring a product or service to a customer. It's key for identifying waste.
How to Use:

1. AI Assistant: Describe your value stream from left to right, including suppliers, processes, and inventory buffers (e.g., 'Supplier Alpha provides parts for the Assembly process...'). Click 'Generate Diagram' and save your work when prompted.

2. Standard Setup: Add each 'Element' and set its 'Type' (Supplier/Customer, Process, or Inventory). Use the 'Sequence' number to control the order.

3. Metrics: Expand an element's details to add metrics like Cycle Time, Lead Time, and Personnel. The 'Analysis Summary' card will update automatically with calculated totals.

4. Export to PDF: Once your diagram is ready, use the 'Export as PDF' button to generate a professional, high-quality PDF document for sharing or printing.

5. Export to Word: Pro and AI Pro members can also use the 'Export as Word' button to get a text-based version of the value stream for easy inclusion in reports.
Now that you know how it works, head to the dashboard to start building your own diagrams.
