Guide: Mastering the 5 Whys Analysis
A powerful tool for drilling down past symptoms to find the true root cause of a problem. Use the AI-guided mode for discovery or the manual mode to analyze existing findings.
The 5 Whys tool offers two powerful modes for root cause analysis.
How to Use (AI Guided Mode):
1. Define the Problem: Write a clear and specific problem statement.
2. Start Analysis: Click 'Start AI Analysis'. The AI will formulate the first 'Why?' question based on your problem.
3. Answer Iteratively: Thoughtfully answer each question the AI presents. After each answer, the AI will generate the next, more specific 'Why?' question.
4. Review Results: After five rounds, the AI will analyze the entire conversation to propose a 'Root Cause' and a 'Potential Solution'.
How to Use (Manual Input Mode):
1. Select the 'Manual Input' Tab: Switch from the default AI-guided mode.
2. Enter Your Questions and Answers: Fill in the five pairs of 'Question' and 'Answer' fields with the results of your own 5 Whys session.
3. Analyze Manual Input: Once you've entered your data, click the 'Analyze Manual Input' button.
4. Review AI Summary: The AI will analyze the Q&A pairs you provided and generate a concise 'Root Cause' and a 'Potential Solution' based on your manual investigation.
5. Export to PDF: Once your analysis is complete, use the 'Download PDF' button to get a professional report for sharing or printing.
6. Export to Word: Pro and AI Pro members can also use the 'Export as Word' button to get a text-based version of the analysis for easy inclusion in reports.
